Where the river runs through it.

Ok, so it isn’t actually a “river” per se.  More a canal.  But still, when youʻre living in the concrete jungle, surrounded by sirens, highway traffic and skyscrapers, having a little bit of greenery and the sound of flowing water in your background is quite calming.

I was raised on the tiny island of Lanai.  No skyscrapers, no traffic, no sirens.  Everything closed at 6pm, everyone knew each other and the entire town was surrounded by pine trees and green.  Living in the city, though it is something I wanted since I graduated, isnʻt all itʻs cracked up to be.  I am fortunate that I have a little piece of home in my backyard.
